Just a few of the many ways the Friends supported the Library in 2018 include:
• Contributed $70,000 to fund library programs, adult literacy classes, and facility improvements.
• Donated 200,000 books to senior centers, schools, prisons, shelters, military families, and LSU Children’s Hospitals and sent thousands of audio books to the visually impaired.
• Awarded $7,000 in scholarships for 6 Library staff to attend library school.
• Sponsored the Summer Fun Program, which provides hundreds of free programs for children, teens, and adults.

Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA) individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.
