What is the Health Insurance Marketplace?
• The Marketplace is a website where you fill out an application and see the insurance coverage options available to you from private insurance companies to compare side-by-side. You can also find out if you’re eligible for free or low-cost coverage like Medicaid. Marketplaces are run by the state or federal government to ensure the plans offered by private companies meet the requirements of the law.
• Louisiana uses the federal Marketplace website, healthcare.gov, to enroll Louisiana residents. This website is also the primary tool for information about state- and federally-run Marketplaces.
• See answers to questions on popular topics at healthcare.gov/all-topics
• 24-hour help line: 1-800-318-2596
• Open Enrollment for coverage in 2019 begins on November 1
