State documents cover a wide range of topics from agriculture to vital statistics. New Orleans Public Library is one of the 11 Complete Depositories that receive one copy of all public documents available for examination. To learn which state documents are offered on a particular topic look in Official Publications: List of the Public Documents of Louisiana (Li 1.10: PD/985/8) which is published every 5 to 7 years; the most recent volume covers 1985-1989. A supplement, Public Documents (Li 1.10: Pd/992/86) is published every six months. It is eventually cumulated in Official Publications. State documents are shelved in the Louisiana Division's reference collection by Louisiana documents classification numbers (LaDOCS), fashioned after federal documents. In the Library's Public Access Catalog main menu enter #7 "Special Readings List", then enter #6 "New State Documents" for a list of informative and recently acquired state documents.
