| The Second District Court index is much more "user-friendly" than the Probate Court index since
suits were now being neatly filed by docket numbers assigned consecutively by the court and the old
chronological/alphabetical
arrangement of the Probate Court had been abandoned.
Unlike the Probate Court index, the Second District Court index does not refer to inventories or wills. By this time,
inventories--if they
existed--were filed with the succession, not in a separate series. Wills were still filed apart in the Will Books, though,
and you must consult the microfilm index at the beginning of the appropriate volume of the books to locate a will.
