Richards' Cape Lime
Cape Lime was used by both brick masons and sugar refiners in the state of Louisiana during the 1850s. The local architect and builder Newton Richards offered to deliver the product to customers along the Mississippi River and in the city of New Orleans. It is not clear whether the kiln shown here was located at Richards' Cape Girardeau Marble Quarry or at the Granite and Marble Yard on Customhouse (now Iberville) Street in the Crescent City.
