Twelfth Night Revelers--Invitation
TNR had ceased parading by 1907 but still staged an annual masked ball. The theme for the 1907 tableau was "The Realm of Peace." TNR's queen that year was Gertrude Monroe, daughter of Frank Adair Monroe (an associate justice, and later Chief Justice, of the Louisiana Supreme Court) and Alice Blanc. Gertrude's brother was J. Blanc Monroe, another quite prominent New Orleans attorney and a key player in the 1927 decision to blow up the Mississippi River levee below New Orleans. In the year following her reign with TNR Miss Monroe married Thomas M. Logan (an uncle of George King Logan, former Assistant City Librarian at NOPL).
