Rex in 1907 was Robert H. Downman, a lumber magnate who died in 1928. His queen, Pearl Wight (actually Laura or Lauretta Pearl Wight), was the daughter of Pearl Wight, founder of Woodward, Wight, & Company (a major hardware supply house in New Orleans for many years) and a prominent Louisiana Republican. She later married George Summers Burnham and lived with him on Long Island in New York. After her husband's death, Laura moved to Kentucky where she died in 1974 leaving an estate worth more than $4 million.
