Standard Oil Company of Louisiana (1916)
The only photo in this gallery not taken in New Orleans (but too good to pass up) is this panorama of
the Standard Oil Company of Louisiana refinery. In 1916, the refinery covered some 500 acres on the
east
bank of the
Mississippi near Baton Rouge and employed more than 2000 men producing products under the
"Stanocola" trade name. Their sales office in New Orleans took up most of the twelfth floor of the
Whitney Central Bank building.
