Mardi Gras fell on March 4 in 1930, so during the first few days of the month, the paper was full of pictures of parades, members of the Carnival organizations' courts and other Carnival-related doings.
"Mrs. Sidney Johnson White, who, in the role of Queen Alexandra, ruled with the Mystic Club member taking the part of King Edward VII at the spectacular ball given by the club last night at the Municipal Auditorium. The scene was a recreation of the reception at the Court of St. James of a loyal Indian regiment immediately after the coronation of King Edward."
