March 2, 1930 On the same day, the Times-Picayune carried a series of images of the new Bonnet Carre Spillway, well under way and slated for completion in the Spring of 1931 at a cost of $3,065,000. "An action view of the spillway construction. Immediately in front of the wooden piles, in the portion covered by water, is installed the first steel sheeting to reinforce the heavy wall."
