Our "usual sources" turned up no references to Richard Hutson Colcock III, but if we could interpret it adequately, his bookplate could probably tell us a good bit about him. Obviously designed to reflect his interests and activities, the bookplate suggests, among other things, that he was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, attended Tulane University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and that he worked in one of the engineering trades--perhaps as an electrical engineer for Westinghouse.
