"They're Still Getting Wider And Better And Smoother"

Morrison's report notes that during the "Decade of Progress," 11.14 miles of major streets were paved, 27.48 miles were widened; 24.70 miles of additional streets were paved anew, and 66.33 miles were resurfaced. Another 150.44 miles were surfaced with asphalt, and 125.40 miles of streets received major repairs. As these two before and after shots reveal, some streets surely did need help.

Today, the city is in the midst of another street repair campaign, as the 50 year old improvements made by Mayor Morrison begin to crumble.
