There is no listing for M.Cassidy as a hotel or boarding house keeper at 172 Gravier Street in late 19th- or early 20th-century city directories, but there was a Cassidy's Restaurant next door at 174 Gravier in 1894, run by George C. Cassidy. Cassidy's Hotel, with M. Cassidy as proprietor, was located at 40 Carondelet in the 1890s, but this may or may not be the same person as our "M. Cassidy." ("European plan," by the way, means that the cost of meals is not included in the price of the room.)
