Canal Street, 1905. This early version of the aerial photograph was taken from the Morris Building, a seven story edifice at the corner of Canal and Camp. The third building from the left (at the river corner of Royal Street) was built by Germaine Musson, the grandfather of Edgar Degas. Across Royal from the Musson building are several structures erected by Judah Touro. While a modern version of the Canal streetcar will be returning to this scene before too long, it is unlikely that we'll be seeing the horse-drawn wagons make a comeback any time soon!
