Sugar Sheds levee
The sugar sheds stood along the levee near the Sugar Exchange at Front and Bienville.
Barrels of sugar, mainly from upriver, were unloaded at the levee and stored in the sheds out of the weather until
weighed and graded and transferred to shippers, brokers or buyers. By the turn of the century, the sugar sheds had a
storage
capacity of 50,000 barrels.
