REBUILD New Orleans Public LIbrary
During the American Library Association Convention in New Orleans, ALA members from all over the country signed up to volunteer their services to NOPL. These generous librarians were everywhere, helping the Main Library with cataloging, processing, sorting donated books, conducting storytimes and craft times, scanning photographs, creating decorations, landscaping our patio, and painting the patio furniture. They sorted thousands of donated books stored at our Algiers Regional Branch. At the Children's Resource Center and the Alvar Branch, which both underwent make-overs during the Convention, they scraped and painted and cleaned and shelved books.
The staff of NOPL will long remember the graciousness, energy, and unfailing good humor of these colleagues. Their sort of generosity can never adequately be repaid. Their efforts made a difference to all of us, in both tangible and intangible ways, and we thank them all.
