| This white marble-fronted building, designed by Henry Howard and built during the 1870s, was under demolition at the time this photograph was taken (ca. 1914/1915). By 1920, a new two-story structure stood in its place, serving first as a restaurant, and currently it is the site of the Meridien Hotel.
