Biographical Note

Lise Marthe Detruit was born on November 23, 1929, in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. Just prior to World War II, she moved to San Salvador, El Salvador, where her father, Emile Henri Gilbert Detruit, was a French business representative for Remington Rand. During World War II, he was President of the General de Gaulle Committee and consul for Poland in El Salvador.

Lise Marthe Detruit moved to New Orleans ca. 1949, where she remained until late 1950, when she relocated to Newport Rhode Island. She returned to New Orleans in late 1952 for another two years and then moved to Virgina. She lived in New Orleans (and Gretna) again in 1968.

She died on August 27, 2009, in Houston, Texas and is buried in the National Cemetery there. [Biographical information provided by Ms. Detruit's son, Walter James Protheroe, Jr.]
