Citizen viewing records in a new microfilm viewer in the Bureau of the Treasury, January 1958. "One of two microfilm viewers now in use in the Bureau of the Treasury. All Ad Valorem tax records back to 1880 are being put on microfilm in a project that will take another year to complete--is now 35-40% finished, latest records being done first and working backwards. Chief advantage is availability of old records formerly kept in storerooms and sometimes necessitating a big research project when a citizen needed to see them. When whole project is complete, two more microfilm viewing machines will be added."
