(Caption on reverse): "This three panel 18 ft. long, 8 ft. high, 3 ft. wide exhibit emphasizes the fact
that each community has welfare resources that must be prepared for any disaster, natural or nuclear. The
basic theme is the welfare of people in disaster, and states that The basic mission of civil defense is to save
lives in event of disaster.' Purpose of the exhibit is to encourage local governments to coordinate the
welfare resources of each community in creating and maintaining five basic emergency welfare services:
Social Services, Lodging, Feeding, Clothing, and Registration and Inquiry. An integral part of the exhibit is a
9-minute color movie of natural disaster phenomena and civil defense action." (Handwritten): "The
exhibit represents a joint OCD-HEW effort."
